A gorgeous golden morning with fog lifting from Moose Falls on Crawfish Creek in Yellowstone National Park. The world seemed warm and enveloping, rich, vibrant, and especially colorful.Island Lake and Fremont Peak. Bridger Wilderness Area, Wyoming.A trail winding through the gorgeous woods of the Magnolia area in Boulder County. Arapaho National Forest, Nederland, Colorado.A Rufous Hummingbird hovering underneath the long stem of a Verbena flower. Her back is brilliant green in most light, but caught sideways, refraction gives her feathers an iridescent blue tint.Hanging Lake, perched high on a cliff wall in Glenwood Canyon, White River National Forest, Colorado. The lake is rimmed by fragile travertine (cave-like limestone deposits) which gives the water its intense blue and green color.First dance? Looks like a tender first kiss (but really it was a sneaky ambush by the spider).A rainbow and a hard, refreshingly-cool rain fill the quiet Caribbean harbor of Esperanza, which appropriately, means “hope” in Spanish. Palm trees dot the coastline of this small fishing village on Vieques Island, a short hop from Puerto Rico. The US Navy occupied the island for decades, but most of their property (covering almost two-thirds of the island) has now been converted to wildlife sanctuaries and park lands. The town itself is a wonderfully eclectic mix of quiet Caribbean charm and vibrant Puerto Rican culture. The unbelievable corkscrew walls of a long and narrow path, San Rafael Swell, Utah.Bee on wild Heartsease flower. There is a relaxed and casual look as if this bee would happily stay put for hours while we admire its stripes and pastel colors. In reality, this bee moved quickly about the mountain meadow, hopping from flower to flower looking for the perfect nectar. The moment captured by the camera has a much more leisurely and intimate feeling. I love having the time to admire all of the bee’s patterns and wondrous details.A bee collects nectar from a wild choke cherry bloom.Hickman Land Bridge, illuminated by the reflected warm glow of a nearby sandstone wall. Capitol Reef National Park, Utah.A gentle trillium flower blowing in the lightest of breezes, a sure sign of spring in northern Michigan.
